Harriet is a Product Designer based in Manchester. Her background lies within Textile design and she has always been passionate about exploring the flexibility and diversity of materials. Following the completion of a BA (Hons) in Textiles and Surface Design from Buckinghamshire New Uni, she spent a number of years completing several creative internships and forging a career in marketing. As this career path didn’t allow her to fully utilise her creative abilities she chose to return to education to study for an MA in Product Design at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Post graduate study allowed her to gain the knowledge and skills to design more functional and utilitarian pieces, opposed to the concept pieces she made previously. With a strong interest in the manipulation of light, Harriet has always taken inspiration from the subversive use of materials, and products which serve a dual purpose. Her work relies on traditional craft and hand finishing to give each piece its own unique narrative. She believes design should be both practical and beautiful, with the ability to transform the space around us.
